The first three clients pay £2,500 for the Diagnostic and from £3,000 a month for the Engine, with the Engine rate locked for 12 months. In return they agree to a named case study and a reference call once there are results to show. The founding rate ends on 31 December 2026 or at the third client, whichever comes first. After that the Diagnostic is £3,500, or £5,000 for firms at £10m turnover and above, and the Engine is £3,500 to £4,500 a month on a six-month term.
The Diagnostic is paid in two halves. The second half is due at the presentation. If you sit through it and the 90-day plan isn't one you would act on, say so, and you don't pay the second half. You keep everything delivered up to that point.
Tell us at the presentation or in writing within seven days of it.
We offer it because the plan is the product. A Diagnostic that ends in a plan nobody uses has failed, whatever else it found.
A like-for-like comparison is hard, because each option covers different work. This table compares what each one covers and what it costs, using published figures where they exist.
| Compared | Pipeline Engine (founding) | In-house SDR | Fractional CMO |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | £3,000 a month, £36,000 a year | Median base £30k, OTE £40k to £50k, before employer's costs, tools, data and management time | £1,500 to £6,000 a month, by days per month |
| Positioning and plan | Included (via the Diagnostic) | Not usually | Yes |
| Technical content | Two pieces a month | No | Usually directs, rarely writes |
| Outreach to named accounts | Yes | Yes, one person's capacity | Rarely hands-on |
| Pipeline tracking and report | Monthly | Depends on the manager | Usually |
| Notice | Rolling after three months | Employment notice and recruitment time | By contract |
SDR pay: Coburg Banks, Sales Development Representative salary UK 2026, a recruiter's published figures, page updated 13 July 2026.
Fractional CMO: McCracken Marketing, Fractional CMO cost UK, a supplier's own price guide, updated August 2026.
Engine: KS Media founding rate, 1 October 2026.
The longer comparison, with the questions to ask before choosing, is in marketing hire vs fractional CMO vs SDR vs agency.
Run the numbers on your own pipeline How much should an engineering firm spend on marketing?
Because a sales director should be able to rule us in or out without a call. Every price on this page is the same on every other page of the site, and none of them is hourly.
The first three clients, until 31 December 2026, pay £2,500 for the Diagnostic and from £3,000 a month for the Engine, with the Engine rate locked for 12 months. In return they agree to a named case study and a reference call once there are results to show.
If the Diagnostic doesn't give you a 90-day plan you would act on, you don't pay the second half of the fee. You keep everything delivered up to that point.
It is credited, in full, against the first month of the Engine if you sign within 30 days of the presentation. At the founding rate that means the first Engine month costs £500.
No fees per meeting, per reply or per contact, and no set-up fee. Ad spend, exhibition costs, website rebuilds and CRM licences are outside the fee and stay in your own accounts.
