Who it's for, and who it is not

Engineering firms whose buyers ask questions before they ask for a quote

A specialist who takes everything is not a specialist. This page says who fits, and who we turn away.

KS Media does AI visibility for engineering firms in five sectors: industrial automation and drives, power electronics, renewables and battery storage, energy infrastructure, and precision manufacturing. AI visibility for manufacturers in those sectors works when the firm has a capability it can name, an engineer who will talk, and a website that can be edited.

Sectors

AI visibility for engineering firms, in five sectors

What they share: a technical buyer, a long sales cycle with several people in it, and a capability precise enough for a machine to match to a question.

01

Industrial automation and drives

Drive repair and refurbishment, motor rewinds, PLC and control panel builders, systems integrators, obsolete-parts specialists.

02

Power electronics

UPS systems, rectifiers and inverters, power supplies, converter design houses, test and repair of power modules.

03

Renewables and battery storage

Battery energy storage integrators and EPCs, solar and wind balance-of-plant engineering, hybrid and microgrid design, containerised systems.

04

Energy infrastructure

LV and HV switchgear, substation engineering, grid connection specialists, protection and control, cable and transformer services.

05

Precision manufacturing

Subcontract CNC machining, fabrication, electronics assembly and contract manufacturing where the buyer is an engineer with a drawing, not a consumer with a card.

Size

10 to 200 staff

Big enough to have engineers whose knowledge is worth publishing, small enough that the founder or technical director can sit in the first interview. Above 200 staff the marketing team usually exists already; below 10 the roadmap is one line long.

What has to be true first

  • A capability you can name. "We repair obsolete ABB drives" works. "We are a trusted engineering partner" does not, because no buyer asks for one.
  • An engineer who will talk. The answer pages are built from interviews. Two hours a month with someone who does the work, not a brochure.
  • A website that can be edited. New pages and structured data have to land somewhere. If the site is locked behind an agency who bills for every change, that is the first thing to fix.
  • A sales cycle you can describe. Who asks, who decides, how long it takes, and what a good enquiry is worth. Without that, no report can be honest about return.
  • Patience for a quarter. Answer pages take weeks to be crawled and months to be cited. The exit is quarterly for a reason.

What a good first call sounds like

"We are named on the drive-repair questions but not the obsolete-parts ones." "Our best customer found us through a forum thread from 2019." "The quotes we lose go to two firms and I can tell you which."

That is a good call because the firm already thinks in questions and competitors, which is what the method measures. The free snapshot is the cheapest way to find out whether it is worth having.

Who we do not work with

Permanently, not "at capacity".

  • E-commerce. Different buyer, different economics, different tools.
  • Consumer brands. The method depends on buyers who ask precise questions. Consumers mostly do not.
  • Generic social media management. Posting for the sake of posting is the thing this programme exists to replace.
  • Branding-only projects. A new logo does not change what an assistant answers.
  • Review management. Not our work, and not honest work when it is done for a fee.

We also turn away firms in the right sector when one of the five conditions above is missing, and say which one, so it can be fixed and the conversation picked up later.

The prices are published for the same reason the refusals are: the audit and the programme are on the audit page and the homepage ladder, with the same figures everywhere.
